Oh, hello there…

You might have read my last post and wondered, “OooohHH—that sounds familiar. And when will this pesky pandemic end so we can start having conversations like that again in-person?”

Right…

So, where do we go from here? Part of this blog will be devoted to exploring public policy issues and opportunities. The other part? Me asking questions, and hopefully getting some answers from my currently very limited (if anyone) following.

Let’s start with a question, then. A thought I’ve had recently was about the kinds of things we’re hoping for in a post-pandemic future. For me, it was the promise that the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) might take root as Universal Basic Income (UBI).

What’s something that you’d hope would “stick” after the pandemic? Or what do you think we could have done before the pandemic to have prepared us better to weather the health and economic fallout?
