After the hiatus...
Almost two and half years without a follow-up post would surly make one wonder — what happened to you, Cam?
Well, a few life changing decisions and some health challenges later meant taking time away to rejuvenate and focus on other projects and on me.
But I’m back now — so what does this mean for the blog? Maybe a few more posts here and there, some musings, and ultimately, a return to being in that busy room, having those interesting conversations about how things are and perhaps how they could be going instead.
You’ll remember that I’m a ‘government guy’ — that I care about how society organizes the things that we’ve decided to do together. And the emphasis for me is not on elected government, but on the public administration; that is, how the business of elected government is actually being carried out by the many hired hands in government administration. The culture, practices, flexibility, and adaptability of the public administration ultimately defines how quickly and effectively things get done. I’ve had the privilege of being part of a few different ones so far, and I feel that I’ve largely got a sense of when things work well and when they don’t. I’ll string this conversation into a few different topics throughout the blog.
Now to the business of thanking you, dear reader, for getting this far. Thanks for bearing with me, and I promise that your patience will be rewarded with some food for thought. As always, I welcome your thoughts and comments.
